I took a flight from Mumbai to Los Angeles in December 2007, for a vacation, little knowing that I would eventually fall in love and get married to a US Citizen. Here I was a tourist getting married to a citizen, which meant converting my B2 visa into that of a permanent residency. Legally it was a big challenge @ least for me. I was introduced to Anuj by my husband as they have been childhood friends. I filed my change of status papers on July 2nd 2008 and had my green card in my hand on January 21st 2009. It all sounds very easy on paper, but in reality ask me how much of a trying, exasperating and stressful process it is. But just the fact that Anuj was my attorney made it seem like a cake walk. Actually it is wrong to say that he was just my attorney, through this process, he became my friend, my confidant and very often my punching bag. Believe it or not Anuj and I have never even met each other as I live in LA and he lives in Houston. Whatever I am saying is straight from the heart because I truly have a lot of respect for him.
